First Official Visit!
 |
|

|
On October 7, 2011, 100 first
graders from Fostertown Elementary School in Newburgh visited the Fire
Safety and Education Center at the Orange County Firefighters Museum.
A few of the lessons the
students learned included: how to identify fire hazards in the home, the
importance of knowing 2 ways out, the correct way to stop drop and roll, the
importance of staying low, how to properly use 911, the importance of having
a family escape plan complete with an agreed upon meeting place and the
value of smoke detectors.
Students also toured the
museum, viewed a ladder truck and spoke with "Tank" both from the Montgomery
Fire Department
The museum and education center are available to all schools free of charge.

update July 25, 2008
The interior framing is completed. The
building has been brought to square. The
foundation and floor slab are in and the
electrical has been roughed in .
We are ready to move on to phase two which
will be to get the front of the building
completed and the sidewalk installed along
with some landscaping that needs to be done
to handle drainage issues.
Phase III: Have windows made and installed.
Get the rest of the electrical and heating
roughed in.
Then we must find more funding to go to
phase IV: which will be the design and
completion of the interior of the building.
This would include the final design for the
use of the space and the finished
electrical, heating and air conditioning,
and the installation of the insulation and
the wall board and flooring.
We need support to continue. Please send us
a check! |

A work in progress that you can help fund!
The floor has
been brought to grade and the footings
poured and pinning placed to accept the slab
that will be poured early this week.
Things are beginning to move along in the
Education Center. |
 |
 |
|
Plans have be drawn up and bids have been
let out to begin construction of the Orange
County Firefighters Museum Fire Safety
Educational Center.
We are on a 2 – 5 year construction plan
that is governed and controlled by the
amount of funding that is presently
available. Senator Larkin, Senator Bonacic,
and Assemblywoman Calhoun have been most
forthcoming with grants for construction. |
|
 |
 |
|
 |
|
The Town of Montgomery, the Village of
Walden, the Village of Maybrook, and the
Village of Montgomery have each sent grants
to help with construction, as well. Recently
the Walden Rotary Club donated a 911
Training Telephone that will help us teach
people the correct way to make a 911
emergency telephone call.
We are working on a fund raising effort
presently and will be approaching the Orange
County community for assistance to allow us
to implement of educational mission. |
